Absa Celebrate Nelson Mandela Sports & Culture Day

Saturday 17th August proved to be a milestone in South African sport & culture as Government rallied together to bring the South African football Legend, Bafana Bafana, the Springboks and several outstanding musical artists to celebrate the Father of our Nation - Nelson Mandela.
Absa rewarded some of their key clients with a once-in-a-lifetime experience  where they were invited to spend the day in a hospitality suite to watch the day’s events unfold in comfort. The key clients were also joined by Metro FM competition winner Roy Mkhonza who won a Human Spirit experience by correctly answering two questions posed by Legends Joel Stransky and Andre Arendse at the Metro FM studios on Friday evening.
They were also escorted to the Locker Room areas of both the Spingboks and Bafana Bafana. The Springbok and Bafana Bafana Locker Rooms are not accessible to the public and it was here that they got to meet two high profile rugby and football personalities. Butch James, currently playing for the Sharks in Durban and current Coach of reigning Absa Premiership Champions Kaizer Chiefs, Stuart Baxter, were both on hand to tell stories about what made each Locker Room unique and to share their own personal experiences from their time with the Springboks and Bafana Bafana respectively.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter handed out signed Bafana Bafana jerseys before everybody departed the Locker Room but before doing so he gave a rousing speech about what the Bafana Bafana represented and how each person should identify what the badge meant to them.

This was just another way that Absa could use their sponsorships to engage with clients in unique, positive and memorable ways.
