Past winners of Last Fan Standing
Thulani Ngcobo won the inaugural Last Fan Standing competition in 2010 and went on to set a new Guinness World Record for the most FIFA World Cup™ matches attended by an individual (38 matches). Thulani travelled to all nine host cities and covered 17 000km, experienced all 10 FIFA stadiums and witnessed over 3 420 minutes of live World Cup football. This experience has changed his life forever and left a lasting legacy.
Today, Thulani has become a soccer celebrity, not only amongst his peers, but by South African standards as a whole. He is now being invited to major sporting and social events, such as the SA Sports Awards, SA Sports Illustrated events and most recently (on the weekend of 17 July) the YOU Magazine Spectacular Awards held at Emperors Palace.
The winner of the second edition of the MTN8 Last Fan Standing competition, Malose Kutumela, won a once-in-a-lifetime experience of watching Manchester United live in action at Old Trafford, aptly known as the 'Theatre of Dreams'. Being a fanatical Man U fan, he was the perfect winner of the prize. Highlights of his trip included watching a series of matches featuring Manchester United, and a tour of Manchester and Old Trafford.
The trip culminated with a monumental 'meet and greet' with Manchester United legend and Irish International left back Denis Irwin and a personal tour of Old Trafford as well as dinner with Quinton Fortune.
Tumoetsile Mogamisi, the winner of the third installment of the MTN8 Last Fan standing won a whopping R1 million in cash and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch top 8 derbies in the world.
Tumo lived every football fans fantasy and became a season tourist visiting icon cities around the world.
Some of the derbies that Tumo has attended include the Manchester Derby (Manchester United vs. Manchster City) in England, El Clasico (Barcelona vs Real Madrid) in Spain, Derby della Madonnina (Inter Milan vs. AC Milan) in Italy and the Old firm derby (Celtic vs. Rangers) in Scotland to name but a few.
Sthembile Ubisi a 21-year old passionate football supporter was crowned the 4th winner of the MTN8 Last Fan Standing competition in 2012.
His prize as the Last Fan Standing included R1 million in cash and a once in a lifetime trip to watch the El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain.
S’the as he is affectionately known, was right in the thick of things to witness the scintillating football spectacle at one of the world’s most famous and prestigious football venues, the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
