On Monday 28th October Absa in conjunction with Absa Premiership club Mamelodi Sundowns held a Fan Day at the TUT Main Campus in Pretoria West.
The Fan Day concept was conceptualised by EXP for the Absa Premiership, as an opportunity not only for fans to engage with their heroes but it also provided a business platform for Absa to engage with existing and potential clients.Supporters came out in their numbers to meet the team and highlight their unwavering support for their club. The supporters started interacting with the players as soon as they stepped off the bus and continued doing so for over 4 hours whilst the players were there.
Once the Sundowns squad was divided into manageable groups by recently appointed Team Manager Peter Ndlovu supporters were then able to interact freely with the players. These including receiving personalized autograph card which the players were happy to sign. Supporters were also able to take photos with the players while posing with the Absa Premiership Trophy, silverware that the Mamelodi Sundowns players seem determined to get their hands on come the end of the season.
Fans were able to challenge their heroes in a series of activities including Foosball, FIFA on PlayStation 3 and the highly popular skills challenges were the aim was to kick a soccer ball into specific areas of an inflatable goal and where successful attempts were rewarded with great prizes including replica Mamelodi Sundowns jerseys and tickets to the next Mamelodi Sundowns home match against Free State Stars in the Absa Premiership.
There was a great media turn-out on the day with broadcasters SABC and e.tv present to capture content and conduct interviews while Jacaranda FM, Power FM, TUT FM were present from a radio perspective while Pretoria News and Soccer-Laduma were also in attendance.
This specific Fan Day was well-received by supporters and club officials with head coach Pitso Mosimane pleased with how the day turned out, thanking EXP for their help in putting this event together and saying, “This fan day is something that not only benefits Absa but is of huge benefit to us as Mamelodi Sundowns and we are so happy with the way it turned out”.
The day’s festivities were crowned off by the fans singing to the Mamelodi Sundowns players and the players joining in on the jovial atmosphere and dancing with their supporters: watch the video below
