It was however, the agency’s work for Absa on the banks sponsorship of the Absa Cape Epic and MTN’s sponsorship of MTN Qhubeka that saw EXP South Africa winning two of the prestigious awards last night.
Alongside Absa, EXP won the Best Sponsorship of a Sport Event or Competition Award for the Absa Cape Epic, after fending off strong competition from other brands nominated for equally competitive campaigns in the same category. EXP has managed Absa’s sponsorship of the Absa Cape Epic, the world’s toughest and most prestigious mountain bike race, for the past seven years. During this time EXP has assisted Absa with innovative ways of leveraging their investment in this cycling event, which has built favourable equity for the bank in this space.
Together with MTN, EXP also went on to win the Virgin Unite Community Programme Award for MTN’s sponsorship of the MTN-Qhubeka initiative – a programme that is a unique work-to-earn project which sees each child in their communities plant and grow 100 trees or recycle 1,500kg of waste and then they barter their earnings for their own subsidized Qhubeka bikes which they can use to travel to school.
“We don’t view these awards as ours alone, as the work we do for our clients are as a direct result of the working partnerships we have with them. It is therefore my privilege to congratulate both MTN and Absa on winning these awards for their outstanding sponsorships,” said EXP South Africa Chief Executive Officer, Sandile Ndzekeli.
We also congratulate Absa on winning the award for the Best TV Sport Commercial, for their sponsorship of the Springboks, in which the bank honours Captain John Smit for being “1 in a million”.
