MonteCasino in Fourways was ablaze with the palpable excitement of Bafana Bafana fans during the three-day Castle Lager SuperFan Camp that took place from 17-20 January, in the build-up to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2013.
Prior to the start of the camp, EXP was responsible for the logistics and planning of the camp, including travel arrangements, accommodation and three day itinerary, planning of tours in and around Soweto and the brewery tour, EXP PR also played a role in ensuring that the camp received maximum media exposure before and during the event, particularly on national radio stations, television and newspapers.
The aim of the camp was to give ordinary football fans a VIP Castle Lager experience, the winners were booked into luxuries Monte Casino Southern Sun and Sun Square Hotels, later treated to the Bafana Bafana Autograph Signing Session and Gala Dinner on the first night of the camp where they received Castle Lager kits that included a Bafana Bafana jersey, hat, scarf and a bag. One of the key highlights of the camp was the live radio broadcast hosted by Robert Marawa know as 083 Sports with Marawa.
Day two winners explored Sowetan history and culture on the world famous Vilakazi Street where former SA President, Nelson Mandela resided. EXP later hosted the winners to an African-inspired lunch at the local and popular tshisa nyama - Chaf Pozi, one of the many Castle Kingdoms. South Africa’s largest brewery plant, Alrode Castle Lager Brewery opened their doors to all the Superfans and showcased to them all the processes of beer-making.
Over the two days guests received a two-night entertainment by award winning DJ’s Black Coffee and Oskido; as well as DJ Tira, Big Nuz, Kalawa Jazmee artists and Dr Malinga, who wooed the crowd from their dinner tables to dance floor with his amazing dance moves. Another highlight of the camp was probably meeting the class of ‘96 Bafana Bafana Legends such as Mark Fish, Phil Masinga and Mark Williams who mingled with the crowd.
Both winners and invited guests throughout the 3 day camp were taken care of, entertained and got the opportunity to enjoy Castle Lager beyond fulfilment as “it all comes together with a Castle” thus EXP ensured they hosted an event that brought different individuals together, laughter, excitement, and friendships were made.
