EXP South Africa has been shortlisted for the Sport Agency of the Year for the third year running after a rigorous judging process was concluded by the Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards last week.
In addition, the agency along with its clients has been shortlisted for five other awards. According to the Sports Industry Group the entries were carefully selected from a high standard and record number of entries. To have earned a place on the shortlist represents an immense achievement.
“After winning the Sport Agency of the Year for two consecutive years, we are truly honoured to have been shortlisted for the third consecutive year, said EXP South Africa Chief Executive Officer, Sandile Ndzekeli. “For us this is an enormous achievement, given that there are many astute Sport Agencies in South Africa. This nomination is testament to the innovative campaigns our staff have delivered for a number of our clients during the past year. Winning it again would be an immense achievement, but being nominated is in itself is a milestone we immensely proud of,” said Ndzekeli.
Of the 11 award categories, EXP was nominated for 6 awards in 5 categories which include:
- Sports Agency of the Year – EXP South Africa
- Sports Brand of the Year – MTN Lions
- Best Sponsorship of a Sport Event or Competition – Absa Cape Epic
- Best Sponsorship of a Sport Event or Competition – MTN8 Wafa Wafa
- Best Sponsorship of a Sport Team or Individual – Absa Bafana Bafana
- Virgin Unite Community Programme Award – MTN Qhubeka
“Receiving nominations alongside our clients Absa and MTN in five other categories is also immensely exciting for us. We believe this demonstrates not only our versatility as an agency working across so many sporting codes, but also testifies to the robust strategies and campaigns that deliver measurable results for our clients. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both Absa and MTN on receiving these nominations,” said Ndzekeli.
Ross Faragher-Thomas, Managing Director at Virgin Active said: “Over the last three years, when many expected the sport industry to shrink in the aftermath of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards have proved it is a sector going from strength to strength. Both the number and quality of entries continue to increase year on year and Virgin Active are proud to be part of such a dynamic and exciting industry, which works so hard for the success of South African sport.”
For EXP South Africa, the campaigns the agency delivers for its clients is a manifestation of the partnerships formed with their clients. “We don’t view these awards as ours alone, as the work we do for our clients is as a direct result of the working partnerships we have with them. By understanding the brand and business objectives of our clients, and by working alongside their marketing teams we are able to deliver some of the most leading edge campaigns in the country,” concluded Ndzekeli.
The winners will be announced at the star-studded Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards ceremony on Thursday 7th February 2013, once again being held at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg.
