For the past 8 weeks, rugby fans have been
battling it out for their chance to fill the boots of an MTN Lions’ player and
book their spot on the MTN Lions Tour of New Zealand.
The MTN Lions Bros vs. Pros competition gave
rugby fans the opportunity to compete against their MTN Lions hero’s for a
place to join the team on their tour down under. Rugby fans participated in the competition
that took place at every MTN Lions’ home game through the MTN World of Rugby as
well as through the online game, the virtual World of Rugby that was designed
on the Facebook platform. The rugby fan that
accumulated the most number of points over the duration of the competition
would duly earn their spot on the MTN Lions Tour of New Zealand.
The overall winner was announced during the
half time match between the Bulls and the MTN Lions at Coca Cola Park on 14
April 2012. MTN was proud to announce the ultimate Lions fan, Andries Combrinck,
who notched up over 2,5 million points over the course of the campaign and is
undoubtedly the ultimate MTN Lions fan.
