MTN
South Africa today launched the MTN Lions Bros vs. Pros competition 2012 Super
Rugby season. This season, the battle is not amongst the teams alone. What
better way for rugby fans to experience firsthand what it feels like to be a
Pro?
To
extend the Ayoba experience to the expanding base of loyal customers and rugby
supporters in South Africa, MTN is giving one lucky Super rugby fan and their
partner the opportunity of a lifetime. The MTN Lions Bros
vs. Pros competition winner will win a trip to travel with the MTN Lions players during their
tour to New Zealand during the 2012 Super Rugby season as a member of the team.
Serame
Taukobong, MTN Chief Marketing Officer says: “MTN is excited about getting
the Bros vs. Pros competition
underway as it allows us to reward the millions of loyal rugby fans across the
country. It also aims to encourage more fans to come to the stadium and support
their respective teams.”
“It has only
been only a year since we took the decision to back the MTN Lions, and already the team has
reclaimed their rightful place in South African rugby. MTN SA is delighted that
our involvement has assisted the union to achieve some of its key objectives in
the first year of sponsorship. We encourage the fans to
put themselves in line to become the ultimate Super fan, and they could have an
incredible opportunity of a lifetime, should they win this competition.”
To
enter, fans simply have to visit the Bros vs. Pros Facebook page and follow the
prompts to register. On a weekly basis, the virtual MTN World of Rugby will
provide fans with various tasks to complete in order to earn points.
Alternatively
fans can visit the MTN World of Rugby at the MTN Lions home games where they
can test their skills against Pros through life-size rugby obstacles which the
Pros have completed in an impressive manner:
∙
CJ van der Lindie scrums
250kg
∙
Franco van der Merwe
reached 3.5m on the vertical jump
∙
Micheal Killian runs the
40m dash in 6.1 seconds
∙
Micheal Bondesio completed
3/3 on the pass master
∙
Elton Jantjies scored 9/9
on the kick for posts
∙
Josh Strauss pushed his
way to a 5/5 score on the bungee run
Similar
to the Facebook page the more tasks completed, the more points earned which
increases chances of winning the grand prize.
Each
week fans will be given an opportunity to earn points by participating in
either the virtual MTN World of Rugby or the actual MTN World of Rugby at the
MTN Lions home games.
The points earned will be recorded on a leader board available for
viewing on www.BrosvsPros.co.za page. The competition will run for eight
weeks, starting Saturday, 25th February till Saturday 11th
April 2012. The winner will be announced on the 14th April 2012.
